Celebration Design 2019

‘In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different’ Coco Chanel

With the end of another year in sight, we turn our attention forward into the new horizon of 2019 and some beautiful directions in celebration design. We see a move to really elegant, poetic personalised celebrations. Generous and luxurious this ‘Classic with a Twist’ approach yields a relaxed, elegant and simultaneously informal space- creating a true sense of occasion and connectedness. Colours are taken from nature, neutral with a subtle hint of jewel- amethyst, emerald, ruby, topaz. Texture and layering are key players with luxe fabrics the focus; layers of aged linen, cotton velvet and silk, highlighted by subtle touches of weathered metallics;  gold, bronze and silver threading their way through the design landscape. Furnishings are also lending texture layers- cane, leather, metal and glass with shapes echoing mid 20th century, coupled with design classics such as bentwood chairs & chesterfield sofas. A considered pairing of the worn and the new. Elegant gilded simplicity following the classic rule, form follows function.

From the ceremony to the catering there is a real desire to create experiences that truly reflect togetherness, with small personalised details adding a certain uniqueness to events. Grazing tables also remain hugely popular and have evolved into a beautiful centrepiece as well as a source of delicious sustenance. Long table feasting endures as a hugely popular dining choice, with shared platters echoing the elegant layering and the poetic, making that the dining table landscape a pivotal focus in the styling of the day.  More textural layers appear here at the table, beautiful hand thrown ceramics mixed with contemporary and vintage pieces, heavy silverware, elegant fine glassware. Vegetable dyed linen and gauze add a softness to the table, completed by unique floral installations, a combination of foraged, dried and seasonal beauty. The desired effect of this well considered aesthetic is a calm beautiful space, with enough personal touches to make each event truly unique.
